ASSEMBLY
65 of the 89 parts required to construct the N1250 are produced from 6mm Steel. Nested correctly, the steel parts in their entirety fit nicely only three sheets of standard size 1200 x 2400 x 6mm steel plate. Other materials used include, 2mm steel plate, steel rod, fire brick, fibreglass rope and glass. The conditions in which the heater required for operation (up to 500 degrees) came with a variety of material selection constraints. The use of plastics, timbers, springs and low melting point metals were avoided.
Interlocking parts increase the ease of assembly and reduces the overall weld time. The firebox contains four bent components which helps keep the combustion chamber air tight and again, reduces welding time. Parts are assembled from the bottom up and two side pieces act a caps locking it all together. Panel assembly sequence has been set up to allow for use of the robotic welder to reduce labour.
